On Saturday, April 3, 2004 we hosted a benefit concert for The Music Heals Foundation with performance by Kiki Ebsen, Joy Bonner, Hollye Dexter, Debra Davis, Tracey Brown and friends.

The Music Heals Foundation is a registered non-profit organization founded by a coalition of Los Angeles-based musicians and artists. Their mission is to present music and art as a positive force for change by hosting benefit concerts and bringing festivals and celebrations to the public. The money raised from donations at this concert went to benefit the Music Heals general fund, which ultimately benefits music and arts programs for foster kids. Music Heals is facilitating an ongoing, wonderful Creativity Course for foster kids living in group homes through the Children Are Our Future organization, and also offering them private piano, drums, singing and keyboard lessons in their foster homes -- something that isn't provided to them any other way.

KIKI EBSEN was born into an entertainment family. She is the featured singer in the feature film, Bodies, Rest and Motion starring Bridget Fonda, and has toured as a sideman with Tracy Chapman, Al Jarreau, Chicago, Boz Scaggs, and Belinda Carlisle to name a few. Her songs have been featured on The Young and Restless as well as Another World. www.kikiebsen.com

DEBRA DAVIS has had her songs featured on such TV shows as Dawson's Creek (WB), Any Day Now (Lifetime) and Beyond Chance (Lifetime). Debra and her music were featured on-camera in the recent TNN special Angel Encounters. Debra -- who performed a truly amazing set here at Russ & Julie's House Concerts back in May 2000 -- has recently signed with Santa Monica-based Sarinjay Entertainment, and is currently recording a new album to be released on their label this spring. www.debradavis.com

JOY BONNER is the lead singer for The Gurus, who are a mix of 70s funk, modern alternative, and radio-ready pop. Joy has made her mark as a studio singer in L.A. and even performed live once with Stevie Wonder. www.thegurus.net

HOLLYE DEXTER, whose father toured with Joe Cocker and Little Richard, was a child actress with a recurring role as a troubled teen on General Hospital. She has sung backgrounds on more than 20 albums and -- with her band, the Brave Souls -- has become a fixture on the L.A. club scene, playing venues from the Roxy to the Rosebowl. www.hollyedexter.com

TRACEY BROWN, percussionist and background vocalist for the Brave Souls, can also be heard on the debut CD of the all female band, Token Angel.

Much more information about these great artists is available at the individual performers' websites and at The Music Heals Foundation website which can be found at: www.musicheals.tv. We are proud to announce that this House Concert raised over $1,000 in donations to benefit Music Heals.
