Singer-songwriter Harold Payne performed at our home on March 16, 2002

Harold Payne is one of the most respected and beloved people in the music industry today. Harold's songs have been recorded by artists as diverse Peter Paul & Mary, Rod Stewart, Patti Labelle, The Temptations, Bobby Womack and even Snoop Dogg! His songs also appear in the movies Beverly Hills Cop II, Splash, and Summer Rental, to name just a few. He has released several CDs, both solo and with his group Gravity. His solo album, Pass It On, is a favorite of ours.

Harold Payne has been a world traveler and international ambassador of music, bringing good will through his music to Russia, Indonesia, Europe, Japan, Cuba and even India. His most frequently recorded work, "Music Speaks Louder Than Words," served as the theme for the Soviet-American Songwriter Summit. Payne participated in several other international musical events including Pacific Harmony in Bali Indonesia, MIDEM Asia in Hong Kong, along with events in Hawaii & India. On the home front, Harold co-wrote and sang the theme for Arnold Swarzenegger's Inner City Games organization, sponsored by Planet Hollywood.

More recently, Harold participated in "Music Bridges Over Troubled Water" in Havana, Cuba with such artists as Bonnie Raitt, Burt Bacharach, Jimmy Buffet, Brenda Russell & the Indigo Girls. He has showcased at 3 NACA events and participated as a featured soloist in a benefit concert for the United Nations at UCLA in Los Angeles. Harold Payne continues to write, to celebrate, to travel, to perform, and to make a musical difference. The positivity of his music is bound to affect audiences, whether they're longtime fans or brand new listeners.

This multi-platinum award winning songwriter was the only 5-time nominee in the 2000 Just Plain Folks Music Awards, which led him to the title of "Songwriter of the Year 2000!" In every venue Harold performs, his warmth and friendly style eliminate the gulf between the stage and the audience. A house concert is the ultimate environment to share his soulful songs and spontaneous humor. On Saturday, March 16, 2002, about 65 people filled into our living room to enjoy an intimate evening with Harold playing an eclectic blend of pop, folk, R&B and acoustic soul, including some songs from his forthcoming new CD. Everyone walked away completely dazzled by his performance. (Believe us, that's not an understatement. We were truly honored to be able to host a house concert for someone as professional and talented as Harold Payne... and to find out that he's as nice and genuine as he is talented!)

Thank you to our friends Fred & Marsha Wolinsky for sponsoring this evening. You guys are the coolest!
