John Hall and Freebo both returned to our house concert series on November 28, 1999 for our last show of the 1999 year!

JOHN HALL is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and activist. He and his wife Johanna have written songs for Janis Joplin ("Half Moon"), Bonnie Raitt ("Good Enough"), Linda Ronstadt ("Give One Heart"), Chet Atkins, Steve Wariner, Chaka Khan, and of course John's band Orleans ("Still The One" and "Dance With Me"). John's guitar solos have been featured on records by Jackson Browne, Little Feat, Taj Mahal and others. He was one of the organizers of the No Nukes concerts, and the Hall's song "Power" became the theme of the movement with a memorable performance by James Taylor and the Doobie Brothers, and subsequent versions by Pete Seeger, Holly Near, and Peter, Paul and Mary. JOHN HALL's newest release, Love Doesn't Ask (Siren Songs, 1999), is a near flawless collection of 13 new compositions featuring guest appearances by Rick Danko, Robbie Dupree, Garth Hudson, John Sebastian and many others.

One of rock's original fretless bass players, FREEBO actually plays several instruments quite proficiently -- among them, the tuba and guitar. FREEBO has been in the studio and on stage with Bonnie Raitt, John Mayall, Maria Muldaur, Crosby Stills & Nash, Aaron Neville and Ringo Starr among many others. FREEBO's bass playing, as well as his background vocals and occasional tuba parts have adorned over a hundred records, including Muldaur's smash multi-Platinum single "Midnight At The Oasis," all of Bonnie Raitt's early Gold albums, and tracks for over a dozen other notable artists and bands. FREEBO's newest release, The End of the Beginning (Poppabo Music, 1999), is a collection of great-feeling songs spanning styles from country to reggae to second-line horn driven rock and featuring appearances by Bonnie Riatt, Paul Barrere, Catfish Hodge, Valerie Carter, Michael Jochum, Albert Lee and others.

This was truly a dream double billing. John Hall and Freebo were on tour together and agreed to stop in and perform some special accoustic sets for us. They performed separate sets, and also lent a hand backing each other. Both John and Freebo had brand new CDs out and both are easily among the very best albums of 1999!! This concert also featured a post Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner which added richly to the festivities. It was an incredible way to end our 1999 house concert series.
